www.reddogmovie.com Red Dog is Man's Best Friend at the Box OfficeRed Dog has broken with convention and taken more money on the 11th of August than its opening day on Thursday, 4th August, 2011, after already enjoying the biggest opening weekend box office for an Australian film this year.
Roadshow Films Director of Marketing, Phil Oneile said: "It is unbelievable that yesterday's box office was actually 12% UP from the opening day, last Thursday ... that rarely happens. I recall that The Castle went up in its second week, but I can't think of many others that have done it. It just goes to show that Red Dog is a movie that Aussie audiences really love."
"We've been inundated by people saying how good the movie is - everyone is blown away by it, and they must be telling their friends because more and more people are going along to the cinema to see it. In fact cinemas have added extra sessions for the weekend to accommodate everyone."
Producer Nelson Woss said, "Our little underdog Australian film is clearly giving the Hollywood blockbusters a run for their money. It is great to see Australian audiences supporting and enjoying a locally produced film."
