Make a Movie

Ages 9–14
Kids are invited to make their own short film from scratch in this hands-on workshop. Participants will work in teams to pitch ideas, write a script, design costumes, act, direct and shoot on location at ACMI and around Fed Square. After mastering the post-production process, adding sound effects and the perfect soundtrack, kids and their guests will walk the red carpet at their very own premiere.
Make a Videogame
7–8 Jan & 23–24 Jan, 10am–4pm
Ages 9–14 In this two-day beginner's workshop, kids code their own videogame and discover the fundamentals of programming. Give your child an understanding of scripting or traditional programming using a visual approach to game development and design.
The Minecraft Building Challenge: Level 1

Claymation for Kids

Ages 7–11
Sculpt your own character from clay and watch it come to life with the help of sets, studio lighting, and sound effects. In this workshop kids learn the tricks and techniques of stop-motion animation including how to develop a story, plan shots, create characters from clay and set backgrounds.
Junior Make a Movie Fri 11 & Thu 24 Jan 10am–4pm
Ages 7–11
In this hands-on workshop designed for lower-middle primary kids, young filmmakers work with experienced staff to learn how to plan, shoot and edit a short film using only a tablet. They also learn how to continue their movie-making at home using their own devices.
Minecraft Building Challenge: Level 2 Fri 11 Jan 10am–4pm

Advanced Make a Movie Thu 10 – Wed 16 Jan 10am – 4pm
Ages 9–14
In this three-day workshop kids learn the fundamentals of the filmmaking production process and get creative with camera techniques, lighting and green screen. Working in small teams, kids get to try different production roles and expand their technical skills. No prior filmmaking knowledge is required, although this course is ideal for kids who have completed the Make a Movie workshop.
Make an Animation Mon 14 – Tue 15 Jan 10am–4pm
Ages 9–14
Kids work together in groups to create a stop-motion Claymation, learning about character design, scriptwriting, lighting, music and sound design as they go.
The Minecraft Building Challenge – Relaxed Session Wed 16 Jan

This custom one-day workshop is designed for kids with ASD. Children work together and in groups, with help from our Minecraft experts, to complete fun challenges that test creativity and critical thinking skills. This workshop connects young Minecraft fans in a positive social environment. Crafted with the assistance of ASD advisory group AMAZE, this workshop features a small group size and a specialized structure.
Build a Virtual Reality World Thu 17 Jan 10am–4pm
Ages 9–14
In this one-day workshop, kids explore outer space and prehistoric landscapes to create their own VR worlds. Under the guidance of our expert instructors, kids create VR using the Cospaces app and a Google Cardboard headset. Kids can continue their VR journey long after the workshop ends with take-home headsets and free, easy access to Cospaces.
