CherryHill Orchards is ready to kick off the summer season with the annual Cherry-Picking Festival, inviting cherry lovers to savour the juiciest and ripest cherries while enjoying a memorable day out. Visitors can pick from thousands of plump cherries at its two stunning locations: the expansive 100-acre Coldstream orchard, open from 2 November through to late December, and the picturesque 85-acre Wandin East orchard, welcoming guests from 25 November through to early January.
The festival will also feature a rotation of food trucks and live music on weekends. The farmgate store will be open all week, allowing visitors to enjoy CherryHill's famed cherry ice cream, as well as the new cherry cider, and a range ofcocktails featuring cherry gin and cherry vodka, all of which are made using CherryHill cherries. Grazing platters from Yarra Valley Dairy will also be available to buy daily, for guests to indulge in a picnic among the orchard, while soaking in the stunning views of the Yarra Valley. CherryHill has partnered with renowned local businesses to package up a variety of cherry-picking experiences. Each ticket includes cherry picking activities, where guests can indulge in as many cherries as they wish, straight from the trees, with any take-home cherries priced by the kilogram.
The exciting offerings this year include the Cherries and CheeseDaytrip in collaboration with Yarra Valley Dairy. Perfect for foodies and cherry lovers alike, this features an hour of cherry picking with a sampling of tasty cheeses. Participants will enjoy a curated selection of artisanal cheeses at Yarra Valley Dairy then continue the fun at the Coldstream orchard for cherry picking, leaving with 500g of handpicked cherries to enjoy at home.
In addition to this gourmet experience, festivalgoers can treat themselves to picnic packs created by Melbourne's high tea specialists, Mary Eats Cake. Available for pre-order from Friday to Sunday, these delightful packs include the likes of shakshuka quiche, cherry cupcakes, artisan cheeses, seasonal fruits, crackers, fruit chutney and many more delicious sweet and savoury treats to devour. For those looking for a complete culinary adventure, CherryHill has once again teamed up with their wonderful neighbours at Rochford Wines for a mid-week Cherries Wine & Dine experience which includes a two-course lunch paired with a glass of estate wine at Rochford Wines, followed by two hours of cherry picking. To top it off, each guest will receive a complimentary 500g Grab & Go box, perfect for filling with the ripest cherries to take home.
For added convenience, CherryHill Orchards has partnered with Hop It, a hop-on, hop-off bus service operating across the Yarra Valley. This flexible transport option allows visitors to create their ownschedule, with pick-ups from wineries, local producers, and even the Melbourne CBD, making it easy to explore the region and enjoy a full day of adventure, cherry-picking, and more.
