Australian producer Akouo, today releases his latest single 'So Long' via Sony Music Entertainment Australia. Driven by a pop vocal hook, dreamy synths and Akouo's signature hip-hop beats and percussive layering, 'So Long' is another slice of electronic production that places Akouo at the forefront of Australian music. Listen to 'So Long' now.
On the new single, Akouo comments: "This song is for the ones who've been on the receiving end of an unfaithful lover, but have come through the other side stronger. I produced the beat originally to pitch for a remix which never came out, but I still really loved it. I wanted to use it still, so I sent it out to some vocalists, and a friend picked it up and made it something so much better! I guess in that sense it's fitting with the theme of the song, making something positive out of a negative."
Akouo's innate talent for production has painted the Tasmanian as one of the most in-demand producers in Australia. Akouo has worked alongside a number of artists including ZHU, SAFIA, Indian Summer, Jess Kent and GRYFFIN. In an effort to showcase the art of subtle electronic production, Akouo released Feel That featuring ARIA Award winning artist Montaigne. Akouo again showcased his production flair on his recent collaboration with Australian musician Lanks on the stunning track 'Yours'.
Akouo will be celebrating this release in style at Cassia Bali where he joins a stellar line-up of artists including Elk Road, Go Freek, Human Movement, Amastro and more. A So Long national tour is also TBA with some milestone festival slots amongst it."
There are few producers as eclectic, versatile and accomplished as Akouo. The Tasmanian rose to prominence in 2014 after his reworks of Flume and Childish Gambino took over Hype Machine's Top 5 most popular charts. The underground hip-hop producer soon made a name for himself as a masterful producer and skilled tastemaker, when his infectious single 'Last Time' caught the ears of music blogs across the country. Akouo has curated mixes for BBC Radio 1, triple j and Maxmag Lab and has worked alongside a number of artists including ZHU, SAFIA, Indian Summer, Jess Kent, GRYFFIN and more. Akouo's debut EP MESA shot straight to #1 on the local iTunes Electronic chart – a true testament to Akouo's ear for production.
Akouo has toured across Australia, New Zealand and North America and has graced the stages of Falls Festival, Splendour In The Grass, Party In The Paddock and Your Paradise in Fiji. In 2016 Akouo was the main support for GANZ's Australian tour and offered an official remix to his single 'Light Years', featuring Maribelle.
