Steeped in nostalgic, suburban rock with an Australiana bent and charming crowds with his performance at this year's BIGSOUND showcase, Allan Smithy, the solo venture of Matt Amery today returns with new single -Air.' The track follows breakout singles -The Streets', -Four Letter Reason' and is the third cut lifted from Smithy's highly anticipated debut EP -I See A Palm Tree' set for release November 4th.

The single and EP announcement also join the exciting news that Smithy has inked a deal off the back of his BIGSOUND showcase with New World Artists (Good Boy, Mallrat, All Day) for bookings in Australia and New Zealand and will be heading out on a free East Coast tour this November, alongside a support slot with The Belligerents next week. He'll be represented at New World Artists by booking agent

Dominic Miller, who says 'I saw him live and knew I had to work with him. What a talent. He writes music in the mould of those great Australian songwriters like Paul Kelly, The Go Betweens and Courtney Barnett – songs that are all at once heartbreaking, uplifting and nostalgic."

-Air' was written after the Darling Street, Rozelle fire in 2014. Living around the corner and heavily involved in the Rozelle community, Smithy created the single in response to the tragedy, channeling the emotions and perspective of those who had lost family and friends.

His forthcoming EP -I See A Palm Tree,' was recorded between Sydney and Melbourne, with co-production credits that include Tom Iansek (Big Scary), producer/engineer Wayne Connolly (You Am I, Paul Dempsey, Cold Chisel), with mixing credits to Liam Judson (Cloud Control, The Laurels) and Chris Collins (Tigertown, Gang Of Youths, Middle Kids) The four-track offering serves as a reflection of life growing up in suburban Sydney, with recurring themes of issues that are prevalent to the Gen Y demographic, in particular the housing market and affordability crisis.
