Much loved Australian artist Anthony Callea is set to embark on an extensive tour for 2019, 'Unplugged And Unfiltered', taking in Melbourne, Hobart, Launceston and Canberra along with shows in regional Victoria and New South Wales.
Performing live in a stripped back setting, accompanied by a pianist and guitarist, Anthony will showcase material from a stellar recording career – taking in 15 years and 7 albums!
The tour commences in Melbourne on May 18 at Palms at Crown, before heading to Bendigo, Horsham, Wrest Point in Hobart on May 31 and Country Club Launceston on June 1, followed by Thirroul, Canberra, Palms at Crown for a second show on July 19, Albury, Wendouree, Warrnambool, Wyong and concluding in sunny Port Macquarie on October 12. Excited at the prospec
t of a new tour, Anthony said today, "Being on stage and performing live is where I feel at home and come alive. It's a total buzz for me! I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to showcasing "Unplugged And Unfiltered", a set up I have never toured before. For me, it's about honing in on the lyrics and melody and delivering them with purity, honesty and gusto, and what better way to do that than acoustically with piano, guitar and vocals?
"The "unfiltered" part represents my Italian mouth and how at times, there's no filter between my head and mouth, which can sometimes get me in trouble, especially with my mum! I'm sure my mum will come backstage after she watches the show and once again say, "Did you really need to tell that story? You don't get that cheekiness from me, your father has a lot to answer for!" Ok Mum, whatever you think…. ha!
"We are definitely going to have a lot of fun on this tour and I can't wait to share stories from the past 15 years and my love of music as captured by my 7 albums."
Anthony Callea holds one of Australian music's most impressive CVs. His single 'The Prayer' became Australia's highest and fastest selling single ever on release and was the No. 1 ARIA single of 2005. His seventh album, "ARIA #1 Hits in Symphony" debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart in September 2017 and ensured that Anthony sits alongside contemporaries such as John Farnham, Keith Urban, Silverchair and Jimmy Barnes, with 3 or more ARIA chart-topping albums.
Anthony has toured with the likes of Celine Dion, Diana Ross and Whitney Houston, and performed for the late Pavarotti, and for Her Majesty, The Queen.
