Interview with Azure
Question: Congratulations on entering into the U.S Billboard Dance Chart at #26 with, Too Late! How did that feel?
Azure: It was absolutely insane. I couldn't believe it. It's been phenomenal; I feel so lucky.
Question: How would you describe Too Late?
Azure: The way I describe Too Late would be that's it's an anthem of sass and savage. It's female empowerment; it says exactly what it means. I think everyone has a time in their life they wish that they had said something but didn't. I think this does that for them.
Question: What inspired the song, Too Late?
Azure: Past experience definitely inspired Too Late as well as stories from friends, the media; I feel like I drew a lot from the social climate of the world around me.
Question: How would you describe your music?
Azure: I'd probably describe it as pop/dance as a genre; It's nearly always got a high sass level. I am also very specific to personal experience with lyrics because I love words. Every line is worded true to me as a person. I totally idolize Demi Lovato, Dua Lipa, and Tove Lo; so I'd like to think I draw inspiration from all of them in my music.
Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?
Azure: There's a song on my EP that's coming out soon called Take You Down and it's so sharp and fun. I'd have to say that.
Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?
Azure: I'd have to say I prefer performing. I have a background in musical theatre so I love live performance. Recording in the studio is an art all in itself; it's definitely growing on me the more I do it.
Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend your show, who would it be?
Azure: My family for sure. Or if it's not limited to -earth' I'd have to say loved ones that have passed in my family. Definitely them.
Question: What is the story behind the name?
Azure: Too Late is basically the catch phrase of the hook which is how we got the name. But it also is how I feel about the situation the song was written about. Too Late, y'know?
Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?
Azure: I'm currently listening to Dua Lipa; everything she does is gold. Also, Kehlani, I love how unique her music and her persona is.
Love Camilla Cabello's break out too. She is so sassy.
Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
Azure: When I was about 8 I saw Delta Goodrem perform and I just loved her. I was like oh mygosh I HAVE to do that. And from there it began.
Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
Azure: I'd love to collaborate with any of the artist I've said above. Also Charli XCX or Post Malone; his vibe is so cool. I'd be open to anyone; I think the music industry is buzzing with so much incredible music right now, especially coming from women.
Question: What's next, for you?
Azure: Next for me is I'm working with an incredible PR team here at home, and in the USA and UK. We're going to release my EP and do some performances and hopefully get Too Late out there to Australia to match the USA in support for it. I'm so excited.
