Pulsating, electric contemporary pop-rock musical bare is coming to Marrickville's Depot Theatre playing from 2 to 17 December following Supply Evolution's sellout 2015 tour of Bring It On: The Musical.
bare the musical follows a group of students at a Catholic boarding school as they grapple with issues of sexuality, identity, and the future. Directed and choreographed by Hannah Barn and musically directed by Matthew Reid, the show is set to take audiences on an emotional musical journey.
Peter and Jason have fallen in love, but they struggle with the fears of revealing their true selves to such an unforgiving world. Ivy, the school heart throb and deeply misunderstood leading lady battles with insecurities and the incessant need to be loved. Nadia, Jason's twin sister, is contemptuous of Ivy and her questionable reputation as she battles a world where she cannot seem to fit in. Ivy's admirer Matt watches on, and learns an honest life lesson about unrequited love. As the graduating class works towards performing Romeo and Juliet, tensions flare, self-doubt simmers, and God's path seems more difficult to find than ever.
bare the musical rings with the sounds of youthful repression and revolt. With a unique sung-through pop score, heart-pounding lyrics, and a cast of bright young characters; bare is a provocative, fresh, and utterly honest look at the dangers of baring your soul, and the consequences of continuing to hide.
The talented cast includes Aaron Robuck, Sophie Perkins, Alex Jeans, Natalie Abbott, Timothy Langan, Teale Howie, Alexandra Lewtas, Caroline Oayda, Matt Laird, Stephanie McKenna, Ibrahim Matar, Tara Hanrahan, Annette Vittetta, Penny Larkins and Gaving Leahy.
