Barkly Square '80s Party

Celebrating 35 years since it opened its doors, Barkly Square, is hosting a huge '80s party, 7 – 9 September.

Kicking off with a street party, Friday 5 – 10pm, the centre affectionately dubbed, 'Sparkly Bear', will 'turn-back-time' hosting a 'Cocktail & Dreams' style bar, '80s tunes from DJ Joey Lightbulb, good food, flash dances, neon and more.

Essentially a giant dress-up party, punters are asked to get dust off their criss-cross and come dressed to impress with prizes offered. For those in need of additional sprucing, an '80s style hair and make-up studio will offer free beautification sessions plus there will be an open photo booth to show off your best 80s look.

A host of craft workshops – think badge-making and puff painting - will run for kids and adults Saturday and Sunday 10am – 3pm and '80s tunes pumping all weekend.

The weekend will see specialty offers available from retailers, including $1 cheeseburgers Friday to Sunday from McDonalds and a vintage record and movie store from JBHI-FI.

Those who like to get physical will be treated to free aerobics workshops hosted by the hilarious Miss Clarissa (think spandex, leotards and legwarmers!). Sessions are free, however require registration and encourage dressing the part via Barkly Square website.

For the kids, hula hooping sessions will run throughout Saturday.

Barkly Square, now owned by ISPT, was built in 1983 and welcomes almost 8 million customers through its doors every year.

Friday 7 September 5pm – 10pm:
- Bar with 80s style cocktails
- DJ Joey Lightbulb pumping out the 80s hits!
- Free 80s Hair + Makeup services
- Dress up + take a selfie with our photo wall
- Free 80s Arcade games (all weekend)

Saturday 8 September 10am – 3pm:
- Free all day workshops with The Windsor Workshop feat. 80s badge making + DIY Memphis Mugs.

- Free Hula Hoop classes + activities with Hoop Sparxx (registration required)
- Free 80s Arcade games (all weekend)

Sunday 9 September 10am – 3pm:
- Free all day workshops with The Windsor Workshop feat. Hand Made Scrunchies + Puff Paint Totes.
- Free 80s Dance + Aerobics classes with Miss Clarissa + 80s hens (registration required)
- Free 80s Arcade games (all weekend)
