21-year-old London-based artist BEA debuts with her first single 'Blue Escape' on London indie label Indigo Kin, a stunning and widescreen electronic pop track inspired by the creative freedom and solitary self-discovery she found within lockdown.
Currently in her second year as a politics student at Goldsmiths, BEA's musical journey began at an early age. Growing up in North-West London in Brondesbury Park, she discovered her love for music through yearly family expeditions to Glastonbury and Latitude and secretly singing Amy Winehouse's Valerie from her sister's Nokia phone in the bathroom. Learning how to play the Beatles on the piano and shining in her school's musical productions, BEA felt increasingly drawn towards a career in music. Her timeless, soulful sound finds inspiration from artists like Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Corinne Bailey Rae and Otis Redding and Donny Hathaway.
Blue Escape's airy, cinematic sound is inspired by the feeling of freedom found in wide open spaces during lockdown, where she found herself surrounded by the sea and endless green fields in Rye, East Sussex when her parents relocated there during lockdown. Moving her piano to her next door neighbour's barn to compose alone, BEA delved deep inwards during this solitary time, finding inspiration in the wildlife and beauty of the natural landscape around her, the music flying out of her during this period of creative isolation.
Blue Escape marks the arrival of an exciting new UK artist with more new music on the horizon.
