Blessing of the Fleet at Sydney Fish Market

Sydney Fish Market is hosting a day of family-friendly activities to celebrate the Blessing of the Fleet ceremony on Sunday 27 September 2015.

The ceremony, a century old tradition, involves blessing the local fleet to ensure a safe and bountiful fishing season. It includes the colourful procession of the Madonna statue around the market grounds by local fishermen.

Following the blessing, the festivities will showcase an array of Italian-themed celebrations including performances from Italian singers Chris Ninni (The Voice), Natalie Colavito (X-Factor) and Alfredo Malabello. Plus, there will be a cooking demonstration and the popular yet very competitive, spaghetti-eating competition.
