'So Long' is the latest release of the bold and boisterous BOI. The Sydney-based pop artist delivers one of her most raw and honest songs to date.
The track walks you through an intimate and personal recount of dark emotions. The consistent walking beat throughout the production really emphasises the desperation for surviving, reclaiming your power as you find a way to get back up again and moving forward one step at a time through muddy waters.
'So Long' comes not so long after her debut adrenaline packed five-track EP "Look At Me Now" which garnered overwhelming support from Triple J and commercial radio. BOI also won the Triple J Unearthed competition for 'This That' festival and earning incredible support from DSP's - securing a collection of popular global playlists for her previous singles. BOI's singles have achieved over 5 million streams across platforms in little over a year.
BOI commenting on her new single 'So Long' says "The song is about not giving up and is a tribute to getting knocked down and finding a way to get back up again. The song was born out of the blinding darkness and bleak state of despair as I tried to re-humanise myself. The empowerment came out in the lyrics which came out effortlessly and were recorded all in one take as if it were like a diary entry, verbatim style, articulating the injustice, betrayal and pain I was experiencing, like a conversation."
Whilst 2020 has seen the world go through unprecedented times, BOI has been busy writing music with Alice Ivy, Bliss n Eso, GODLANDS, PINK ZINC, Justin Stanley (PRINCE), and Printz Board (Black Eyed Peas).
