Bombay Show Pig are Mathias Janmaat and Linda van Leeuwen, an indie rock duo from Amsterdam who have been making waves internationally with their energetic live show. Over the past 18 months, the two-piece have performed hundreds of shows across Europe, U.S. and South Africa and been invited to perform at prestigious festivals and events such as Great Escape Festival, CMJ, SXSW, MaMA (Paris Showcase) and opening the European Youth Olympic Festival in Galgenwaard (featuring a 80-piece orchestra). BSP are now set to release their first Australian EP on May 30th, before releasing their album later this year.
The first taste of the EP to Australian ears is Wires. Mathias Janmaat describes the track as "a kind of a protest song. It's about rejecting expectations and following your own path. When I made the choice to focus only on making music and not following a more traditional road, there were some people that told me it was a bad idea and tried to convince me to stay on the beaten track. I'm glad I didn't."
The track and EP were produced by Simon Akkermans and the recording process saw a creative outburst using all kinds of instruments, including a musical saw, horns and vibraphone to create a thick textured sound.
The term "wall of sound" has found its new ambassadors.
