And so it came to be. The boutique festival. They were suddenly everywhere. But then there is BOOGIE!! Boogie, still young in its 9th year, it set to wield it's heavy powers this Easter to the faithful gathered in magical Tallarook. Tickets are selling well, but still very much available from www.boogie.net.au and good ol' Greville Records. So, we promised more cats to joined the already anointed, and here they are.
From the USA, welcome for the first ever time on our brown dirt, the magical STRAND OF OAKS. Their debut album 'Heal" was a critics darling in 2014. Their live shows have had entire audiences embracing and planning their future lives together. These guys will be taking you out on the emotional, sonic highway with two big performances at Boogie to change your world forever. First ever Australian shows…..at Boogie…wow!!
Fresh from warming the good vibe stage for Mac DeMarco, here come THE MURLOCS. Theses dudes are gonna continue the party with their untamed garage soul and ass shakin' rock and roll.
Current Triple J album of the week winners, DORSAL FINS, are the next cab off the rank. A collection of Melbourne's finest delivering an eclectic mix of good time tunes at just the right time this Easter. Get the new record, feel the vibrations.
DARREN HANLON heads to Boogie armed with a hot new record, 'Where Did You Come From" released next month. The bard with be joined by an all-star band to deliver one of the moments of Boogie. Settle into the hillside and accept Darren and band's delivery of tales from his worldwide colourful journeys.
SCOTDRAKULA are blazed and primed for an incredible show. Their debut album 'Shazon" dropped late last year, and the gang are gathering the musical momentum with their power pop jangles to brighten your weekend. Your day will be brighter and more fun post this fine outfit romping on the stage.
Next up are new cats, PEARLS. Sweet thumping sounds, disco-era synths and hotness. Hit the soft focus Instagram filter, tighten your lycra and let go. Their debut, "Pretend You Are Mine" will be in the stores in the couple of weeks too.
PARKING LOT EXPERIMENTS are four young Melbournians who make inventive, unconventional yet totally unpretentious tunes, fluctuating between fiercely danceable loops, folky interludes, and playful banter. With a level of DIY grace, these guys master ticklish, shiny melodies enmeshed with fresh, quirky electro rushes. Sounds very Boogie.
MANGELWURZEL are also Melbourne folks, but they might as well be from outer space. To see them play is to buy a one-way ticket on a hurtling freak train. One that's as likely to pass through post punk and art pop songcraft as it is to take detours into ska, rap metal and klezmer explosions. We welcome all beings.
THE FINKS, the band, not the bikie gang, are a collection of people and ideas based around the magical songs of Oliver Mestitz. They will perform live as a duo at Boogie 9, and enthral us all with their heartfelt tales of life and love.
Last addition is the excellently named, and raucous sounding, GOAT PISS GASOLINE. Tasmanian songwriting machine Ramblin Van Walker joins forces with Maitland guitar prodigy Hank Elwood Green and Adelaide's Suit Watkins in this killer, house rocking', electrified blues boogie band with no bass and plenty of vinegar. Hell yeah!
Ok, so sadly we need to advise Adelaide's FAIR MAIDEN have had to cancel their appearance, but to put it all together we now have STRAND OF OAKS (USA), THE MURLOCS, DORSAL FINS, DARREN HANLON, SCOTDRAKULA, PEARLS, PARKING LOT EXPERIMENTS, MANGELWURZEL, THE FINKS and GOAT PISS GASOLINE joining already announced POKEY LA FARGE (USA), JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE (USA), ROCKET SCIENCE, TONY JOE WHITE (USA), THE BOMBAY ROYALE, LOS CHICOS (SPAIN), DRUNK MUMS, PONYFACE PLAYS NEBRASKA, DAVEY LANE, THE PEEP TEMPEL, ALI BARTER, FUCK THE FITZROY DOOM SCENE, COOL SOUNDS, BROADS and EATEN BY DOGS.
