300% Boom In Airbnb Market

Summer is almost here and for Airbnb hosts this signals a huge spike in usage of their property, which means a huge spike in earnings.

The cooler months can be inconsistent for hosts as Australians look to travel to Europe and chase the sun, but different events across the arts, music and sport will appeal to different genres of people and they will lead to people flocking to Australia.

There are so many events between November and March that draw both overseas and domestic tourists and this means more and more people are after accommodation.

"Prices can jump up to 80% over this period and it really is a fantastic time to rent out your property.

"There are also mega events that really drive the price up for hosts and we have seen prices increase by up to 300%. Consumers are still happy because they get somewhere fantastic to stay during peak time and hosts are excited because they see a jump in revenue from their short term stays", said Malvina Russo, ANZ Director, Airsorted.

The top five events across the country that will drive people into Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane looking for accommodation are:

New Year's Eve
Australia is one of the first cities in the world to begin the new year and tourists from all over the world come to for the annual stunning fireworks spectacular.

Prices all over the country increase and a one bedroom apartment in Sydney's CBD usually priced $180 per night will jump to almost $500, while a four bedroom place will increase from $500 to $2,500 on NYE.
