  4. Job Description
    I work in advertising! I work closely with art directors and designers and I ensure that artwork is print ready. Yes, that work that you actually see in magazines and newspapers, I do it!

    I am constantly working - from doing actual hours at work, to freelance work, to actually seeing what is out there [in the streets- i.e. signage, movies] because it is all influence.

    Working in a jewellery store and in the industry, freelancing and working in a small design studio.


  7. What inspired you to choose this particular career?
    From the age of 10 years, I knew I wanted to do it, as inspiration goes, I always had a passion to [tried] to be creative and design.


  8. What qualifications are needed to work in this field?
    You need to complete a design course either at a University or Tafe campus - this will enable you to build up a folio of your work to present at job interviews and the like.


  9. What are the best aspects about your job?
    Learning all the time, technology, the use of up-to-date computer equipment, meeting like-minded people.


  10. What are the worst aspects?
    The unpredictable and often long hours!


  11. How many years' experience do you have in this field?
    I completed 3 years at Tafe and I have 2 years industry experience.


  12. Are there many employment opportunities?
    Yes, but unfortunately you have to find the right employer who is willing to give graduates a go. But once you have the experience, then it is a matter of choosing where you want to go and who will give you a position as the competition is grand.

    Media (eg. TV and radio, which is all linked to advertising, animation, packaging, the list is endless!) It is all a matter of deciding what you want to specialise in and of course there is the Web, like girl.com.au! :)
