2009 Release of debut EP 'Tiny Spark' and signing to Mushroom Music Publishing.

2009 looks set to be a busy year for Sydney Singer/Songwriter Caitlin Harnett. Caitlin is releasing her debut EP 'Tiny Spark'. The beautifully crafted 6 track EP, which was recorded with Matt Fell at Love Hz Studios, contains 5 originals and a cover of the June Carter and Johnny Cash classic 'Jackson'.

Caitlin is just 18 years old, but the maturity and credibility of her song-writing has quickly captured the attention of audience and music industry insiders. Following on from her Young Songwriters Award at the 2008 Apollo Bay Music Festival and grand final appearance in the Telstra Road to Tamworth, the young artist has been signed to a publishing deal with Australia's largest independent publishing company, Mushrrom Music Publishing.

March was a big month for Caitlin as she was selected to perform at the Port Fairly Folk Festival and two songs from the EP were played on 'Home and Away'.

Caitlin has a natural stage presence that draws you in and a beautiful voice that compels you to listen. Her performances reveal a wisdom and warmth that belies her youth. It's 'fantastic, fragile pop' with a touch of folk and suggests early-like exposure to somebody's really good record collection.

"Caitlin Harnett is one of the freshest talents I've heard in a long time. Her EP is extraordinary good. I'm sure than an enormous career is going to grow from this Tiny Spark"- Jeff Jenkins (Impress, RRR)

"Every now and then you run across an artist who you feel, rather than hear. I closed my eyes and her music took me away. Yes, I heard it, but I also felt it, which is a rare thing." - Tim Daley CMC.

I've been told I sound like...

Caitlin Harnett : I am almost always told that I sound like Harriet Wheeler from a band called The Sundays.

Car I want to own:

Caitlin Harnett : An old school Holden or something like that! Nothing new.

Car I own:

Caitlin Harnett : A beaten up Camry that doesn't lock but has a sweet cassette player!

My Music is...

Caitlin Harnett : Honest.

I would never leave the house without?

Caitlin Harnett : Clothes! Haha.

Prized Possession:

Caitlin Harnett : Jimmy my guitar.

What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning:

Caitlin Harnett : A special boy.

How did it feel to hear your song played on a CD?

Caitlin Harnett : It felt so wonderful! I'm so proud of the record and how it turned out and so happy that I can share my music with people.

Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?

Caitlin Harnett : I think you need to be in it and experience it before you can really judge. There is always that stereotypical idea that the music industry is only about making money, which is true in some cases. There are still some labels out there who are working hard to make music what it used to be and we should be focusing on them!

Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration?

Caitlin Harnett : Writing is something I've always done, ever since I was little. I find inspiration from books, people and things that are going on in my life.

What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?

Caitlin Harnett : Lately I've been listening to The New Frontiers, Nada Surf and La Rocca but I'm ALWAYS listening to Ryan Adams.

What's next? Tour/Album/Single?

Caitlin Harnett : Tour! I want to go overseas but I need to save. Hopefully I'll get to go back to Melbourne, I really love it there!

Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Caitlin Harnett : They both evoke completely different feelings but I think performing live wins out. There is no greater feeling than playing your music to people and knowing that you may have helped or inspired someone.

What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Caitlin Harnett : Music was just a natural thing for me, it was always what I wanted and I could never see myself being anywhere else.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Caitlin Harnett : Confidence. Finding that inner strength to play my songs and feel like I'm good enough to be out there playing them.

What has been your favorite part of becoming a music artist?

Caitlin Harnett : The support I get from the people who listen to my music, the friends I've made and the shows I've played.

If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Caitlin Harnett : Ryan Adams, definitely.
