Caitlyn Shadbolt Edge Of The Earth

Caitlyn Shadbolt Edge Of The Earth

With the release of her 2017 debut album, Caitlyn Shadbolt was touted as 'one to watch' and a 'rising star'.  Now the 24-year old emerges with new album STAGES and a more polished pop country feel to her songwriting and guitar playing. STAGES is set for release on November 6 via ABC Music/UMA.

The album is preceded by brand new single, 'Edge Of The Earth', a fresh, uplifting song cowritten with Sarah Buckley.

Discussing the track, Caitlyn says, "Sarah and I wrote this song after learning that we both love to push the boundaries in life and in music. I feel like this song sums me up well: free spirited, adventurous and… stubborn!  I recorded it with Stuart Stuart during lockdown and engineered all my vocals and acoustic guitars in my home studio, then sent them to Stuart in Brisbane and we collaborated over the phone."

In fact, the whole album started with Caitlyn in her home in Gympie, with producer Stuart Stuart bringing it to life in his Brisbane 'Analog Heart' studio.

STAGES highlights Caitlyn's ever evolving musical career. With 9 out of the 10 songs co-written by Caitlyn, she has worked with other songwriting talent including Sarah Buckley (The Buckleys), Alana Springsteen (US singer/songwriter), and Dylan Nash (Dean Lewis), to name a few.

Caitlyn explains the backstory to STAGES, saying, "We all live our life through different stages and this album is essentially documentation of that! All my songs tell a story and for me, this record touches on more than just the happy Caitlyn. There are songs that celebrate failure, songs that are more vulnerable and songs that are straight up cheeky. This album is me, all my emotions and all my stages in one."

She continues, "This year has been crazy for all of us! Recording the album has kept me occupied and grounded through these times. It's been nice to wake up to some kind of routine. I feel like I've been writing songs for years and I'm so excited to finally have a finished product to share with everyone! I have grown a lot in the last couple years and I think you can hear that in this album."

A finalist in the sixth season of The X Factor Australia, Caitlyn Shadbolt went on to secure a recording deal with ABC MUSIC and release her debut album, Songs On My Sleeve (May 2017). Upon release the album hit #1 on the ARIA Country Album Chart. First single, 'My Break-Up Anthem', held the #1 National Country Airplay Chart for 8 consecutive weeks and became the second most played song on Country Radio (held out of the top spot by Sam Hunt's monster hit 'Body Like A Backroad'). Caitlyn was recognised for her achievements by winning the CMC Award for Best New Artist, along with a nomination for Female Artist of the Year.
