Carda Returns with Latest Pop-Dance Single, Wasted
At the age of 23-year-old, songwriter and producer Carda (Adrian Cardamone) has achieved what most would hope for in a lifetime. Accumulating more than four million plays across all platforms and no stranger to commercial radio rotation, Carda is in prime position to release his latest effort, featuring Emily Falvey (out now).
Framed as an introspective look at a regrettable physical relationship from the female perspective, 'Wasted' had its genesis as a cross-continental collaboration between Melbourne and Nashville. Written as an apology letter, the chorus lyrics best describe the tone of the song: "I'm sort of ashamed that I let you pull me close just to let you go". Inspired by the likes of other pop-EDM crossover artists such as The Chainsmokers, Jonas Blue and Martin Garrix, Carda utilises emotive imagery and conversational lyrics to add a charming depth to this slick pop-dance production.
"This song is the most powerful story I've told thus far, which is what makes this release so exciting."
'Wasted' captures a unique "wind down the windows" summer dance-pop sound, infusing uplifting EDM-inspired production with melodic pop vocals,. Mixed by Mitch McCarthy (Bebe Rexha, Megan Trainor) and mastered by Chris Gehringer (Dua Lipa, Rihanna), this latest offering from Carda is the quintessential collaborative project.
"My music plays on the contrast between an emotional, powerful story with uplifting, feel-good production."
Paving his way with an unmistakable sound, 'Wasted' offers an exciting glimpse of what is to come for the Melbourne artist. Having spent so many years honing his sound and perfecting his craft, Carda is ready to well and truly take centre stage in 2020.

Interview with Carda
Question: How would you describe your music?
Carda: Summer, feel-good production with emotional, memorable vocals. I like to play on the contrast between uplifting production elements and a strong, captivating vocal to craft a unique dance-pop sound.
Question: Can you tell us about Wasted?
Carda: Wasted is a collaboration with Nashville singer-songwriter Emily Falvey. It's an introspective look at a regrettable relationship from the female perspective. The song is written as an apology letter and the chorus lyrics best describe the tone of the song, "I'm sort of ashamed that I let you pull me close just to let you go". This song is the most powerful story I've told thus far, which is what makes this release so exciting for me.
Question: What was it like working with Emily Falvey?
Carda: Working with Emily was an amazing experience. I reached out to her online as I noticed she co-wrote some songs I loved. She was so easy to communicate with and is not only a super talented singer-songwriter but an amazing person. The way she connected with the vocal on an emotional level definitely shaped the direction of the song.
Question: What motivates you most when creating music?
Carda: Thinking about the ways the listener and audience can connect with my music is something that drives me. It's so rewarding to see a listener emotionally connect to my music and I hope to bring this to a live show one day.
Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?
Carda: I'm yet to perform my music live but it's something I really want to do in the future, it's a big goal for me. Recording is challenging but very rewarding and I love collaborating with new artists and songwriters to create new ideas.
Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?
Carda: I think I'd have to say Martin Garrix - his energy and vibe is so infectious and his music is something I look up to, especially given his success at such a young age.
Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?
Carda: Currently I'm listening to a range of artists. EDM, dance-pop artists like Gryffin, Kygo, Martin Garrix, Zedd, Jonas Blue and The Chainsmokers. I'm also really into pop artists like Julia Micheals, Lauv and Chelsea Culter. Australian acts PNAU and Hayden James I'm also really vibing at the moment.
Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
Carda: My love for electronic dance music and pop music was definitely at the time of Avicii ('Levels') and Zedd ('Clarity'). Both these artists and songs inspired me to dive into the world of dance music and the curiosity and learnings took over from there!
Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
Carda: I'd love to collaborate with Kygo. The way his feature vocalists mould his tracks and shape his melodic sound is so contagious. He's a melodic genius and I'd love to eventually work in the studio with him to see his production workflow and ideas!
Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?
Carda: Comparing myself to other artists career, especially those around my same age, was something that I struggled with for a while. I had to learn to just focus on enjoying the process of making music and allowing the rest to take care of itself.
Question: What's a typical day like?
Carda: I like to wake up and make myself a nice big breakfast (like eggs/bacon and a smoothie). I do some admin while eating breakfast and get ready to go to a writing session or work in my home studio. I like to also break up the day by going to gym or playing tennis with mates, it keeps me refreshed and allows me to switch off creatively.
Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?
Carda: For me the growth and opportunities from releasing music and connecting to more and more fans around the world has been the most rewarding and exciting aspect of being an artist. It's so rewarding to hear a finished product and have that well received by both fans and the music community.
