Spellbinding Melbourne guitar, bass and drum trio The CB3 return in 2022 with their first new music in almost a year on new single 'Teacups & Candy'. Following on from the punctuated rhythms and static energy of 2020's 'October', and the playful warble of last year's '40/40 Home', the outfit's latest bubbling groove rounds out a trio of eclectic singles lifted from The CB3's forthcoming EP Bunny Hop. The band are thrilled to reveal that after an extended and anticipatory taste-tester of lifted singles over the past couple of years, the full sonic experience of Bunny Hop will finally be with us in a matter of weeks on Friday 25 February 2022 with 'Teacups & Candy' another delectable offering from the release.
Out via CD Baby, The CB3's new single 'Teacups & Candy' is a slow burning fuse that twists and turns along a vast landscape of uncanny beauty before gently crackling into a full blown explosion of fantasy funk. The single features an epic string solo from Melbourne's own Xani Kolac aka acclaimed violinist and Music Victoria Award nominee, XANI. Guitarist and frontman leader of the band Cristian Barbieri says; "This song was heavily inspired by Willy Wonker's chocolate factory. Lickable wallpaper, chocolate rivers and fizzy lifting drinks: It's wild! So naturally it called for an equally wild violin solo by Xani."
"The three of us have played together so much over the years, with different bands and artists, and all types of gigs. I hear that all come to fruition on this EP. I feel like we found our feet. Choi, our producer, nailed the engineering/production side too. Every instrument sounds exactly as we wanted. That doesn't always happen." – The CB3
Defining new parameters for contemporary music by blending class-act musicianship with a rare gift of both conviction and restraint, the creative prowess of CB3 bandmates; Cristian Barbieri (guitar), Caleb Shand (bass) and Chris Farace (drums), possess a knack for not only the tune, but the feeling: one that permeates, captures and transforms. Their upcoming EP Bunny Hop is a true testament to this inimitable camaraderie. When long-term friendship and collegiality meet a common lust for scintillating groove, wise beyond its years, the results are phenomenal: beat, bass line and melody at its impeccable, hook-soaked best. Expect all this and more when the EP drops with the cool change at the end of summer.
