Interview with Chloe Styler

Question: How does it feel to be a Breakout Artist of The Year finalist at the 2019 Gold Coast Music Awards?

Chloe Styler: It feels pretty great! I honestly was a bit lost for words when I found out the news, but I'm so thankful to the Gold Coast Music Awards for providing me with this opportunity and hosting such an awesome night for GC music makers!

Question: How would you describe your music?

Chloe Styler: It's often difficult to box myself into one genre but I think it's a nice mix of country, folk and a little bit of pop.

Question: What inspired the track, When Your Light Burns?

Chloe Styler: When Your Light Burns was inspired by family holidays spent on an island on the Great Barrier Reef which has a really beautiful old Lighthouse perched upon the beach. My family and I have made some really wonderful memories there that I'll hold dear forever, so I thought; why not write an ode to the Lighthouse? It's nice to know that it's there through all of life's ups and downs, and no matter what happens it will always be there to guide me home. I'm usually one to write love songs, but I suppose this is a love song for the Lighthouse. .

Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?

Chloe Styler: I love performing Sweden, it's so fun! It's also pretty catchy so I find myself singing it in my head for days after.

Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?

Chloe Styler: Hmm that's a tough one. I'd have to say Kacey Musgraves. She is a HUGE inspiration of mine and just to have her in the audience would make my heart warm.

Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Chloe Styler: I love the whole process of recording, but nothing beats performing your own songs live to a crowd. The energy in the room is so addicting and there's really nothing quite like it.

Question: What motivates you most when writing music?

Chloe Styler: I 100% write from personal experiences. So if you've ever wronged me, watch out.

Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?

Chloe Styler: Maggie Rogers is definitely one that I have on repeat.

Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Chloe Styler: This will sound pretty cliché but I think it was just a perfect fit. I love writing music, performing my songs live and telling stories so I can't imagine doing anything else with my time.

Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Chloe Styler: Stevie Nicks. My mum and I both love her and she's a huge reason for why I do music.

Question: What's a typical day like?

Chloe Styler: At the moment, University assignments but I graduate this year so hopefully a typical day will involve smashing out song after song and being able to travel around the country playing them live.

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Chloe Styler: The people I have gotten the opportunity to meet. I've made some incredible friends over the last few years and it's so great to be able to support one another in this industry.

Question: Can you share your socials?
