Continuing His Celebration Of Black Music's Funk Tradition, African Roots, And Stylistic Diversity That Comes Together On His Highly Anticipated October 8th Album El Alimento, Fast-Rising Cuban Star CIMAFUNK Now Teams With The GRAMMY-Winning Hip-Hop Legend On A Third Advance Single From The Jack Splash Produced Project

"Recording and filming with Cimafunk was a dope cultural exchange.
He's a brilliant performer, and I'm happy to be part of the Funk!" – Lupe Fiasco

Cimafunk, the fast-rising dynamic performer and ambassador of Cuban funk, has joined forces with Chicago's great hip-hop lyricist Lupe Fiasco to release the new single Rómpelo. Combining Cimafunk's trademark mix of Funk and Afro-Cuban rhythms, with Lupe Fiasco's distinctive style, the track represents the third advance single from Cimafunk's upcoming album El Alimento. Rómpelo was produced by Jack Splash, the Los Angeles based producer known for his funk, R&B and hip hop hits, and also finds Cimafunk's musicians from Cuba adding more AftoCuban flare and vibrant energy fans are discovering in the band's live performances.

"The beat is killer and there's so much positivity in the song, a real happiness and upbeat energy. And Lupe Fiasco, wow. He's a legend and his verse is so dope, crazy flow man. Lupe's talent comes out so strong on this track. The process was so organic. As soon as I heard the beat, I grabbed my mic and started recording. I knew where I wanted to go – positive and upbeat. I was listening to a lot of Parliament Funk those days and one of the choruses came out with that flow "con los míos, con las mías. We then had my musicians in Cuba run to the studio and inject their energy and that AfroCuban flair.Once it was all cooked up, we sent the track to Lupe. He liked what he heard and blessed us with his talent. Lupe dropped a sick verse and closed the song." - Cimafunk

Cimafunk's new album, El Alimento (translation: the nutrient), will be released on Friday, October 8th. The first three singles, Funk Aspirin with George Clinton, Caramelo and Rómpelo with Lupe Fiasco are now available on all platforms.

"I'm really excited about my new album El Alimento. I think it marks a before and after moment in terms of my sound and the whole Cimafunk concept," says Cimafunk. "It's an experiment; one that's very organic. My brother Jack Splash and I let the music go where it wanted to go, and we followed. The collaborations on the album came about naturally through friendships, admiration and real synergy."

El Alimento is the monumental second album from Cimafunk, the Cuban medical-student-turned-Latin-funk-star who crash-landed onto the music scene with his debut album Terapia in 2017 and an electric live show that has captivated Spanish and non-Spanish speaking crowds alike.

"We set things off with the godfather of funk George Clinton on Funk Aspirin, the first single, followed it up with Caramelo, a real banger, and now Rómpelo is ready for you. I can't wait til' October 8 when people can listen to the whole album," adds Cimafunk.
