Cinco De Mayo 2016

On 5 May 1862, the Mexican army declared victory over the French forces at the Battle of Puebla, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguin. This historical victory helped establish a much needed sense of national unity and patriotism. Today, Cinco De Mayo it is known as the much loved festival that pays homage to the land of tequila and tortillas, and is the best excuse for the brightest of celebrations. Hang up that piñata, break out the under-used sombrero, chill those margaritas, and smash up some guacamole.

On Thursday May 5, to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Brisbane's Emporium Hotel will commemorate the Mexican victory with four Olmeca Alto Tequila Cocktails, complimentary tapas from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and a Latin inspired DJ with trumpet player (fantastic cocktail images available).
