Burn baby Burn Get funked at Dante's Infernal this Saturday (17 January 2004) and help find a cure for Diabetes.

Kicking off with beats from 8pm at Dantes Fitzroy our DJs, "Sponge Bob" & "The Frog, See?" will warm you up before turning up the heat with live performances from "Captain Lou" (Big, Bald & Beautiful) on sax and percussionists, "Mind the Gap". To keep the temperature rising our roving guest performers will intrigue, excite and mystify you. A night of madness, mayhem and the unexpected and if you get too hot cool down with Bulla Ice-Creams.
20 months ago Catherine McKay was diagnosed with diabetes Type 1. From a normal healthy life we all take for granted Catherine joins the more than 100,000 Australian's who now depend on multiple, daily injections of insulin to STAY ALIVE.
Diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes in Australia has doubled in the past 5 years; it is one of the most costly, chronic illnesses of childhood; you can never outgrow it; it shortens your lifespan; it leads to kidney failure, blindness, nerve damage, amputations, heart attack and stroke; despite all this Catherine is a very positive person - who is determined to see a cure found in her lifetime.

So instead of sitting on the bench this year we are actively raising funds to make sure a cure is found. Our first goal is to get Catherine to the Jacob's Creek Ride to Cure Diabetes on January 26 in the Barossa Valley. We need to raise a minimum of $3,500 although our very ambitious target is $7,000. Dante's Infernal, our second event is purely a night of fun and excitement. Our hosts Dantes, our guest performers, our Ice-cream provider Bulla Dairy Foods and our many volunteers have all kindly donated their services to our cause so all funds from the night go directly to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
