DJ Shadow The Mountain Has Fallen

DJ Shadow has released a surprise EP called -The Mountain Has Fallen' via Mass Appeal Records and is available now through Sony Music Entertainment Australia.  The EP features collaborations with Nas, Danny Brown, Academy Award-winning composer Steven Price and a brand new solo composition and is available now via all DSPs.  The physical version of the album will be available August 18th.  Following on from his impressive sold out tour of Australia in May, where he appeared in Sydney at The Avalanches Block Party set to the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour, DJ Shadow's North American summer tour started last Thursday in Quebec and continues through August 4, ending with his first-ever show in Nashville, TN.  He will play Panorama Festival in NYC on Randall's Island on July 28. For all dates, head here.

-Horror Show' finds Shadow and Danny Brown collaborating for the first time over a jagged, haunting soundscape. The song made its radio premiere on Shade 45's Sway In The Morning last week, and you can listen to the song here.

-The Mountain Has Fallen' starts with -Systematic', DJ Shadow and Nas' first-ever collaboration together. The song debuted during the season premiere of HBO's Silicon Valley in April.  Also featured on the EP is a brand new composition, -Good News', reminiscent of some of Shadow's more free-form, fractured work found on 2016's The Mountain Will Fall full-length.

The EP closes with -Corridors', a piece featuring Academy Award-winning composer Steven Price (Baby Driver / Gravity / Suicide Squad).  Shadow is a massive fan of his work, and Price wrote and programmed the string parts on the song.

"Prior to the last album, I made a lot of high-risk moves behind the scenes, including walking away from a comfortable major-label deal.  My thinking was, If The Mountain Will Fall LP ends up being successful, I'd be in a much more positive place in my career.  With everything that's happened since it came out, I feel like I bet on myself and won.  So I guess you could say that this new EP is my version of a victory lap.  It's a celebration, and an extension of those confident steps forward."

-The Mountain Has Fallen' comes on the heels of a tremendous fifteen months for the legendary DJ and producer. He performed at Coachella 2017, marking his fifth appearance overall at the festival. He recently launched his KCRW show called Find, Share, Rewind, which airs at 10pm PST the first Saturday of each month.  His extensive -The Mountain Will Fall' tour continues through 2017 and has seen him circle the globe more than once since launching in 2016, with recent dates in Australia, Japan and Europe.  He will finish his 2017 dates in London in October.  Shadow released his latest feature album The Mountain Will Fall via Mass Appeal Records to raves last year, which lead to a performance on -The Tonight Show' with Run The Jewels.  The music video for that track, -Nobody Speak', just won the 2017 A2IM Libera Award for Best Music Video and a Bronze at The Cannes Lion Awards.
