If you've ever dreamed of working for a charity full time, here's your chance. The Vodafone Foundation is calling for applications to its World of Difference program - an initiative that gives passionate people the chance to work full-time for a charity and get paid for it.
The program offers up to five 'dream' placements for Australians ready to dedicate 2012 to a charity of their choice. As part of Vodafone Foundation's flagship initiative, the successful applicants will receive a year's salary of up to $60,000 plus expenses up to $15,000, as well as training, mentoring and support so they can focus on their World of Difference goals for the year ahead.
Tanya Bowes, Chair of the Vodafone Foundation said: "What makes World of Difference unique is that it gives charities a resource they need the most - time. Because it's a paid position, individuals can really dedicate themselves to making an impact with the peace of mind that they can still pay their bills while doing some good. It's something that they might not have considered doing otherwise sadly because of the financial realities of working within the not for profit sector."
Since it began in 2004, World of Difference has supported 39 big-hearted Australians in lending a full-time helping hand to various charities across Australia, including the RSPCA, OzHarvest, Oxfam, St Johns Ambulance and the Australian Men's Shed Association.
For Peter Holland, 2007 World of Difference participant- and now World of Difference mentor -there is one common and defining feature between all who apply to the World of Difference program.
"I think passion is at the heart of it. Everyone has it that goes through the program. These people are most definitely 'cause crusaders' as they all have a desire to make a difference in the world for a cause they are totally committed to. It's fantastic and it changed my life," said Peter.
Applications for the 2012 World of Difference program are now open. See www.vodafone.com.au/personal/aboutvodafone/worldofdifference for more information, full terms and conditions and details on how to apply. Applications close 4pm on Friday 17 February, 2012.
