Eliott Circles

Eliott Circles

If there's one thing Eliott should be known for, it's her ability to tell a story.

The Melbourne-based-artist returns with her new single 'Circles' and the accompanying video filmed along the beautiful streets of Paris.

More powerful than anything she's put out before, 'Circles' showcases Eliott's ability to translate her past into show-stopping, heart-gripping pop, rich in emotional lyricism and vulnerability.

Arriving in the wake of her debut EP Bold Enough, after a period of self-reflection and overthinking that often comes alongside, 'Circles' sees Eliott confront her life journey head-on.

"It navigates through a lot of my life," Eliott explains. "Dropping out of university, letting down my parents, always being on diets, and ultimately living in this cycle of making mistakes and hating who I am."

There's a sense of pain and frustration built up within Eliott's vocals on 'Circles', clearly from the therapeutic release of opening up with her most intimate release to-date. However, there's an uplifting acceptance that sits amongst the heaviness, relaying a message that makes the listener feel it for themselves.

"Those things have made me confident and strong though, and make me love who I am," she continues. "I wouldn't change a thing."

Written on a songwriting camp with Xavier Dunn (Jack River, Graace, CXLOE) and Sam Phay, before being later produced alongside Chris Collins (Middle Kids, Tigertown), Eliott's first new music for the year arrives with a video directed by Martin Bouffange.

The video brings an interpretation of the song's title, with Eliott doing a lap through the streets of Paris eventually finishing where she began, accepting her flaws which began the song's inspiration.

"I spent a lot of time in Paris on my own, reflecting, and learning things about myself. We filmed the video while in Paris, where I was able to reflect on Circles, and what it means to me, and how much I've overcome in the past two years since writing it. It's vulnerable and raw, so I wanted the video to be that in its simplest form - so we shot one shot of me walking in a loop around the beautiful streets of Paris, ending up back where I started from."

Born in regional Victoria and now living in Melbourne, the young musician has always had songwriting and lyricism at the forefront of her sound. Her debut EP Bold Enough released in September 2018 built itself around a similar sense of turmoil, likewise the few singles that have come out since: 'Shaking My Hips' and 'Find A Way'. Since bursting onto the scene, Eliott has received praise from tastemakers such as triple j, Pilerats, Fashion Journal, Purple Sneakers, and The Music and chosen to support No Mono, Ok Moon, Dean Lewis, Matt Corby on their national tours as well as tour her own headline shows. Eliott's vocals have featured on Kite String Tangle's 'Killing Time' and Lucian Blomkamp's 'Doing This For You' and she co-wrote Montaigne's track, 'Ready'.

It's clear that with singles such as 'Circles', Eliott's songwriting comes from her heart, and with more to come in the year ahead, we're about to see more of her heart than ever before.
