After spending several years as a music pr, Erika Grapes has unveiled her solo debut single, 'Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby', a trip-hop, soft and husky cover of Cigarettes After Sex' indie cult-song.
An electric dream pop version which Grapes delivers with a faint voice, heavily charged with pathos, bending its original meaning.
The electronic soundscape that holds the whole track was created by composer and producer Lorenzo Montanà, known for his artistic ties to Pete Namlook, Tying Tiffany and for being the composer of one of the official trailers of the movie The Hunger Games.
"This production comes in a time of personal loss and awareness. A very hard and, at the same time, deeply emotional path I was, and still am, going through." - explains Grapes - "while I was recording the vocal parts for this song by Cigarettes After Sex, which I love, I felt the need to pour into my singing both the pain and the mysticism I felt at that time. The nihilism as well as the clear perception of a universe that dominates us and, somehow, comforts us too. This is the ultimate meaning that I have given to this version of the song. The perception of a great invisible embrace which is beyond good and evil. Life and death ".
