Everywhere Some Other Dude Interview
Following the release of critically praised single "Shades At Night" UK Alt Rock band 'Everywhere' have announced new track "Some Other Dude" available on all digital providers July 29th.
"Some Other Dude" is the second single off their Sophomore EP due out in September this year. "It's a funky little song about the importance of seizing an opportunity before it goes out the window" says Sweden native front man Max Berga.
During the recording process of the new EP the band have divided their time between Stockholm, Los Angeles and London to collaborate with multiple producers, including American hit maker Mark Needham (The 1975, The Killers).
Since their Hypemachine charting debut "Eddie", Eveywhere's music has been streamed millions of times on YouTube, Soundcloud and Spotify. They made their first International appearance at the 2013 NME Awards in the UK, playing alongside Django Django and Palma Violets, and later went on to support the Kaiser Chiefs and headline Notting Hill Arts Club in London.

Interview with Max Berga
Question: What inspired Some Other Dude?
Max Berga: You know those moments when you think back on that hot person in the bar that gave you that look and you felt the connection but were too shy to approach? Or perhaps that ex lover who left you because you had trouble committing? When we think of that we always feel a sting of regret. Our new single is all about those moments and the importance to act instead of pulling back.
Question: What can we expect from the upcoming Sophomore EP?
Max Berga: You can expect a lot of pop hooks, funky guitars and some big sing along choruses!
Question: What are you looking forward to most about your tour?
Max Berga: We are really looking forward to finally meeting our fans that have been supporting us for years. Headlining Bleach in Brighton will be a blast for sure!
Question: How did it feel to hear your song played all over the airwaves?
Max Berga: It's an amazing experience. We really don't listen that much to radio, but sometimes when we know our song is coming up next, we tune in and it's such a great feeling. A little bit like love, it's highly addictive.
Question: Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?
Max Berga: Yeah, after watching shows like American Idol we really thought the criticism would be much harder. However, it has only happened on a few occasions that somebody has lashed out on us like they do on TV. We have learned that rejection often comes with sound of silence. Being ignored can be a hundred times worse than being yelled at.
Question: Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration?
Max Berga: We do write our own material yes, but lately we have been co writing with people. We co wrote our latest single 'Some Other Dude" with a great Swedish man named Markus Videsäter who also produced it.
Question: What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?
Max Berga: We listen to a very wide range of artists in many different genres. We are pop junkies, pop music is like a Big Mac, it's not an intellectual experience but purely physical. We like everything from Rihanna to Stravinsky.
Question: What's next? Tour/Album/Single?
Max Berga: Next up is our UK tour; kicking off on June 24 and then we will release our sophomore ep in September.
Question: Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?
Max Berga: Honestly so many times that we have lost count! As a band/artist, you tend to blow things out of proportion sometimes. This is such a tough game but so is becoming a doctor as well. You really have to try your best and almost everything will require far more effort than you could ever did imagine back in High School.
Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?
Max Berga: It depends on which member you talk to, our front man Max is a studio guy, he needs to be in control, needs to be able to push the right buttons at the right time. Our drummer on the other hand is a live performer at heart. He just takes such enormous pleasure in sitting behind that kit and banging in front of a massive crowd.
Question: What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
Max Berga: Jack White from the White Stripes. Or perhaps Kings Of Leon. Our front man Max saw them perform at a festival in Sweden and got so inspired that he then decided to start writing music.
Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?
Max Berga: The biggest challenge has been to avoid the hustlers. They have been praying behind every corner on our journey. No matter if they are dressed up as managers, PR companies, Radio pluggers or record labels; they all have one thing in common, take the money and run!
Question: What's a typical day like?
Max Berga: It sort of depends if we are on tour or not. If we're not touring the alarm clock goes off 6.30, then we do emails until the afternoon. If we've got radio interviews and rehearsals we do that until 9-10 pm. Dinner around 11 pm and after that we interact with our followers on Twitter and Facebook until bedtime around 1 am.
Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?
Max Berga: The gratitude we experience every day when we get those amazing tweets and comments from our followers and fans is truly overwhelming. It's an amazing feeling.
Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
Max Berga: We would love to work with Ryan Tedder from One Republic, we also love RAC's remixes.
Question: What is the story behind the band's name?
Max Berga: A friend of our drummer sent us a festival poster as a joke in which he had photo-shopped the word -Everywhere' as the headliner. It looked so great that we just had to go with it!
