Fantastic Film Festival

From 20 February – 4 March 2020, the inaugural Fantastic Film Festival Australia will celebrate all things weird, wonderful and subversive, at Lido Cinemas, Hawthorn (VIC) and Ritz Cinemas, Randwick (NSW).

"The inaugural Fantastic Film Festival Australia is all about showcasing bold, provocative and ground-breaking cinema, looking to those on the fringes to call out our bullsh*t, kill our darlings, and question our reality," says Fantastic Film Festival Program Director Hudson Sowada. "For all you mind-breakers, trend-setters, razor-walkers, loose wires, truth talkers, trail-blazers and envelope-pushers – I hope you find a new home at FFFA."

The Festival will unveil its full program on January 24 with one-off screenings of The Lighthouse, by Robert Eggers (The Witch). Tickets are on sale now to the Program Launch screenings at Lido Cinemas and Ritz Cinemas.

"All will be revealed on January 24, as we launch our full program with special screenings of Robert Eggers' twisted gothic The Lighthouse, which includes its Victorian premiere," he said.

Starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, the film follows a pair of lighthouse keepers attempting to maintain their sanity while living on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s.
