Mik and Lana are best friends and new arrivals in Babyland. Their expectations, joys and fears are all explored in this comedic portrayal of motherhood.
Revealing the deeply personal truths that are never really talked about, it shatters the myths and stereotypes about motherhood from the delivery room to the home front.
This new iteration has been written by Elise Hearst. From Here to Maternity's journey through the first year of parenthood is a hilarious and cathartic show for anyone who has ever been on a trip to Babyland, at Chapel off Chapel, 26-30 October 2016.
As sleep becomes a mere memory Babyland becomes increasingly surreal. Featuring nightclub flashbacks, competitive play dates, brand obsession and epic parenting fails this is a show that every parent can identify with. Features mild playground violence and very little sex.
While this is a light-hearted look at parenting, the show does touch upon some of the more difficult issues faced by first time mums. -We want to reach out to first time parents to let them know that they're not alone. There are high expectations from society and ourselves, sometimes we can be the harshest critic, we need to be realistic – first time parenting is really difficult, absurd and confusing but can also be a time filled with joy,' says Mikhaela Ebony.
It stars long-time friends, Mikhaela Ebony and Lana Meltzer
