George Ezra has today released his highly anticipated sophomore album staying at tamara's via Columbia Records and Sony Music Entertainment Australia. Three years after the release of his platinum debut album Wanted On Voyage, George returns with a collection of "songs about escapism, dreaming, anxieties and love". Incredibly, the album has already received early critical acclaim, with glowing 4* reviews from The Sun and DIY, the latter of whom described the album as a "gorgeous, much needed escape". staying at tamara's was written, created and inspired by George's travels, including spells on the Isle of Skye; at a pig farm in Norfolk; in a former cornflour shed in Kent; a converted cow shed in north Wales; and in an Airbnb in Barcelona owned by the Tamara of the album's title. The result is a finger-snapping, brass-blaring, wind-in-the-hair album that shines with positivity and encouragement, alongside moments of more subdued reflection.
Upon staying at tamara's release, George held a global live stream on his YouTube channel, hosting a Q&A with fans about the new record and charming the online audience with a performance of his infectious single 'Hold My Girl'. In celebrating the release of staying at tamara's, the live stream additionally saw the British favourite contact fans from around the globe, and with much excitement George called an Australian supporter.
Following Saturday's broadcast of -Paradise' on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, the track immediately climbed to number 1 on UK iTunes and is currently at a new peak of number 16 on the Spotify UK Chart. The single is also trending within the Top 5 on the UK midweek, with the stand out single having already amassed 16 million streams globally. In addition, George's next single -Shotgun' premiered last night as Annie Mac's Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1, an absolutely outstanding feat for the singer songwriter. Incredibly, staying at tamara's has already claimed the number 1 position on the Australian iTunes Album chart, and George is currently number 1 on the Singer/Songwriter on the iTunes Singles chart.
George recently toured Australia this month, performing to sold-out audiences at shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The talented artist has now returned to his native country for a run of sold out dates in the UK in the wake of the album's release, which includes a night at Brixton's O2 Academy.
