With a series of sold-out headline shows earlier this year, GUM - the moniker of Tame Impala/Pond multi-instrumentalist Jay Watson has announced a new run of dates in support of 2016 LP Flash In The Pan . Kicking off this week at Hobart Brewing Co, the shows will see GUM hit the stage at Melbourne venue Yah Yah's and Oxford Art Factory's 10th Birthday in Sydney this weekend, before wrapping up with a performance at Perth's The Sewing Room next Friday.
No stranger to packed venues, GUM's full live band tour earlier this year saw a sold-out run of shows which included two Melbourne dates and an upgrade to Sydney venue Oxford Arts. Eager fans will once again get the chance to experience Watson's latest LP in full.
Recorded almost entirely at home throughout 2015 and 2016, Flash In The Pan features future-soul lead single -Gemini,' which received a vibrant visual treatment from director Sam Kristofski, who used left over 35mm and 16mm film stock from CSI: Las Vegas to bring the themes of the track to life. Audiences will also be treated to latest single 'Deep Razz,' released in March the accompanying manic and blissed out video was directed by Alex Aulson.
Having supported Mac DeMarco on his 2016 Australian tour and with a recent appearance on the line-up for Gizzfest, the LP follows GUM's 2014 debut Delorean Highway and 2015's Glamorous Damage, which spurred psych-pop jam -Anesthetized Lesson' and accompanying remix treatment by bandmate and friend Kevin Parker. Both records were hailed by the likes of Pitchfork, NME and Stereogum and featured on the longlist of the Australian Music Prize.
