This summer, Harbourside Shopping Centre and Cockle Bay Wharf will transform the Harbourside Amphitheatre and Promenade into a sparkling sand beach with the launch of -Harbour Sands'. Running to 22nd of January 2017, 150 tonnes of real sand, live music, sunset DJs, a 4-tonne sand sculpture and human sized board games will take over Darling Harbour to offer the ultimate inner-city beach escape for locals and visitors.
-Harbour Sands' will include a series of sunset DJ sessions on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, filling the sky with music as night falls across the city. A giant 4-tonne, 7.5 square metre sand sculpture will also be built in live time by sand artists, which visitors can view in action from 10am on Tuesday 3 January to Tuesday 24 January at Cockle Bay Wharf.
There will be buckets and spades for hire to keep little ones entertained, whilst parents soak up the views from a relaxing deck chair under a shady straw umbrella. An AstroTurf Beach Park will also be erected for the first time, complete with life-size Jenga, Connect 4, Noughts and Crosses, Bowling Ring Toss, Outdoor Chess and Snakes and Ladders.

The Harbourside Beach Patrol will keep beach revelers summer ready, with free sunscreen and misting to ensure that all are kept cool under the scorching Australian sun.
