"Melbourne duo Hearts & Rockets are here to fire up your nervous system with their excellent but eerie, DIY video skills. Made up of Kalindy Williams and Kurt Eckardt, the duo create energetic punk-rock that's packed with attitude and outspoken vocals. Today, we're very pleased to be premiering their latest video – a murderous scene that perfectly captures the tracks frenetic foundations.
"Hearts and Rockets like to do it themselves, including the filming and production of this very video. The lighting, the sets – it's all very on point for that old school horror feel. "It's like a trailer that you'd see at the start of a video that you borrowed from a video store when you were a kid. It's for a horror movie we wish we'd seen. So many of those old horror movies seem to only exist in those trailers - we're big b-grade horror movie fans and have tried to find so many of those movies, and heaps of them just don't seem to exist in any way at all." Now it does, just the way they imagined it." - Deafen County
"This latest single was released last month as part of a split 7" with Zig Zag - a collaboration between Psychic Hysteria and pals at Roolette Records. The song is actually an ode to low quality humans, and how we can't always be patient when people are acting bad – sometimes you've just had enough. Kicking off with sharp guitars and a lo-fi drum beat, the bratty punk vocals soon enter to shake things up.
"Kurt Eckardt said of the track, "You Don't Know What You Have Until You've Had Enough (or Had Enough as we call it) was originally written about the human race generally being jerks. It actually started off as a song called I Hate The Human Race, then Kalindy woke up one night with 'I've had enough of you' and that melody in her head, so we changed it. The original was written when we were at the supermarket and everyone was being aggressive… It's so weird that generally speaking, people are mean to you and no one seems to care about each other at all." It's a bleak assessment, but one put out there to be proven wrong." - Deafen County
