Most Mums know how much their kids enjoy cooking. But why should it just be Mums? Dads should be cooking with their kids too and Iain 'Huey' Hewitson is leading by example.
Huey often has his 7 year old daughter, Charlotte, on his show, Hueys Cooking Adventures (Ch 10, 3.30pm weekdays). He wants her to have the same love for food and cooking as he has. "It's important to get kids in the kitchen early. Teach them a few things they can cook pretty much by themselves and their love for cooking will grow" Huey says.
"And let's face it, if the kids can cook, it's got to be a good thing for the whole family in the long run. How great will it be for them to cook for you in the future?" Huey says with a big smile.
On May 25th, Charlotte and Huey will be cooking up a storm on his show. The featured recipes are Charlotte's favourites - Hoisin Chicken Wraps, Barbecued Pork Cutlets and Adam and Eve's Pudding. Yummy!!
At the end of the show, Huey even pulls out his guitar and he and Charlotte sing along to 'Octopus' Garden' by The Beatles. One not to miss!
Charlotte also has her own section of Hueys website where she has lots of kid-friendly recipes, so there's no excuse for Dad. What better website to go to for inspiration to put something different on the table tonight!
