With a career that's spanned almost three decades and over 20 albums, prolific and internationally renowned musician Hugo Race and his record label Rough Velvet Records are pleased to announce Hugo's solo album - No But It's True has just been made available digitally through iTunes.
Following a successful East Coast tour performing songs from the album, Hugo has returned to rave reviews about his album performance and exploration of the theme of love through covers from a maelstrom of music eras going back as far as the fifties, including greats such as 'I'm On Fire" - interpreted in a way reflective of Hugo's love of primitive folk and blues songs.

Hugo Race was not only a founding member of the Bad Seeds, he was the driving force be behind Plays With Marionettes, The Wreckery and more recently The True Spirit and has returned to Australia after two decades abroad, to perform these love songs in his hometown.
A visionary performer, Hugo Race is also an internationally acclaimed singer, songwriter and producer. He has released 14 Hugo Race & True Spirit albums but his various collaborations number another ten or more albums spread over several continents including Dirtmusic (their BKO album, recorded in Bamako, Africa, a cross-cultural collaboration with the Malian Tuareg group Tamikrest, cited as one of the best albums of 2010), the French-American band Lilium, the Brazilian project Moses Complex, the Berlin-based Rogall's Electric Circus Sideshow, the contemporary Polish electronic composer Michal Jacaszek, Belgian violinist and actor Catherine Graindorge, and the Sicilian band Sepiatone with whom Hugo has released two albums with a third in the pipeline. Hugo also performs on the upcoming Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project double album together with artists like Mark Lanegan and Nick Cave.
In 2011, Race's album -Fatalists' received rave reviews globally. In September, Race will be seen on Rockwiz, one of Australia's favourite music quiz shows.
