Hypnelia My Man's Waltz Interview

Hypnelia will be releasing her debut single "My Man's Waltz" through AWAL. First single and track of her upcoming album "Slow Motion", will be available worldwide for purchase, online.

Written and produced by Hypnelia herself, the single summarises what we'll be hearing in her upcoming album. A well mixed trip hop/rock form. Her distinctive, sultry voice, is one of the assets of the single, along with the imaginative lyrics, chaotic guitars and hypnotic melodies.

The single was recorded and mixed by well known producer Noukas Sotiris, at Underground Sound Studio.

Question: How did it feel to hear your song played all over the airwaves?

Evaggelia Siouti: Great feeling, the joy that your work has gone out there at last and it might reach someone and move him in the way you are moved, its magic. It's nice to know, that other people might find something to express them in your songs!


Question: Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?

Evaggelia Siouti: I think every artist at the moment, is trying to do things on his own, because music industry is internet right now. Web radios, web mags, blogs, social media etc. are the ones that move things right now and it's nice for an artist to know, that there are endless ways to get your music out there, but sad to know that there is a big chance too, to lose your music in there. It's a fear.


Question: Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration?

Evaggelia Siouti: Yes, I write my own songs. Inspiration can be found almost anywhere, movies, people around me, my own life; everyday life is full of moments that can inspire you. Maybe I'll see a movie and write about it, maybe I'll watch two strangers argue and write about! Inspiration has no end, its everywhere!


Question: What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?

Evaggelia Siouti: Generally, I tend to listen, some new stuff that I read a lot about, new albums, new artists, to see what's the buzz about, but mostly I prefer listening to my all time favorites, like Pink Floyd, The Cure, Nick Cave, Nina Simone etc.


Question: What's next? Tour/Album/Single?

Evaggelia Siouti: I've just released my debut CD single "My Man's Waltz", which will be the first song of the upcoming album! So, finishing the album, is the current priority, maybe afterwards a tour!


Question: Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?

Evaggelia Siouti: Oh yes, I've done it for a couple of years! But music is like a drug! No matter how hard you try to quit, you keep getting back!


Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Evaggelia Siouti: Well, I haven't toured yet, maybe its not the right time to answer, ask me in a year!


Question: What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Evaggelia Siouti: All my favorite artists, but I'm more of an indie right now, not so consumed in the industry.


Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Evaggelia Siouti: Finding the right people to collaborate, musicians are strange people!


Question: What's a typical day like?

Evaggelia Siouti: Morning coffee, work, songwriting, sleeping, nothing extraordinary.


Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Evaggelia Siouti: Getting it out of my chest! There's no greater way to keep yourself sane, than telling it all with a song!


Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Evaggelia Siouti: Robert Smith I think, from the living ones.


Question: Are you single? What do you look for in a partner?

Evaggelia Siouti: No, not single at the moment, I've found all I need! Understanding, caring, having the same values.

Evaggelia Siouti: Expressing your self, sleeping well, drinking a glass of red wine everyday, no smoking and a little exercise every once in a while!

Evaggelia Siouti: I'd like to thank them all for the support, the feedback we get is the most important thing to go on doing what we do.
