International Songwriting Competition Australian Winners

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is pleased to announce its 2016 winners. Now in its 16th year, ISC is the world's largest international songwriting competition, receiving more than 16,000 entries from 137 countries throughout the world. More than $150,000 in cash and merchandise is awarded to 71 winners in 23 categories covering all genres of music.

As always, Australian artists fared extremely well in the competition with songwriters such as Big Scary, Dallas Frasca, Gang of Youths, Kate Miller-Heidke, Katrina Burgoyne, and many more being honored.

Candace Avery, the founder and director of ISC, says, 'Celebrating the talent of so many Australian songwriters reminds the world how important Australia is to the global music landscape. There is so much incredible talent, and it is always a pleasure to discover up-and-coming Aussie artists as well as getting to revisit more seasoned ones."

The 2016 competition honors a total of 60 songs written by Aussies, making Australia once again the country with the most winners next to the USA. A total of 10 winning songs share in the prestige of winning First, Second, and Third Place in their respective categories. An additional 50 Aussie songs received Honorable Mention. The combined winners represent five States, including New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia. (See below for a list of Australian winners).
