Dear Girl is here to help! GO TO > Dear GirlDear Girl,
I have this boyfriend and we've been dating for two months. He's already kissed me on my breasts and touched my vagina but he hasn't fingered me 'cos I am scared he won't like what he sees. I have a lot of hair down there. Every guy says they like girls with shaved ones so I have decided to shave it. Will it hurt?
Thank you,
Itchy-Scratchy
Dear Itchy-Scratchy,
First and foremost, whether you decide to remove some of your pubic hair is completely up to you. You should try not to worry about how "down there" appears as everyone is different and it is not up to guys as to whether you or any woman removes her body hair. Pubic hair is natural and many people choose to leave their hair growth just the way it is. However if you decide to head down the path of hair removal, then you have many options available to you.
Shaving is one choice and usually does not hurt, however you do need to be careful that you don't cut yourself while doing it. You shouldn't press too hard while shaving and just do a bit at a time. Waxing can be painful, however the results are often better as the hair does not grow back as fast. With waxing, you need to ensure that you exfoliate the waxed area. If you don't, ingrown hair can be a result and this can be painful. Little red bumps can appear and the hairs that grow "in" can sometimes become infected. The other option is hair removal cream. These are usually quite effective, though similarly to shaving, the hair will grow back faster and thicker.
Try to make this decision based on how you feel, don't let guys influence your decision! Do they shave off their pubic hair for you? I think you'll find in most cases that what you see is what you get!
Hope this helps,
D.G.
