Australian recording artist Jai Waetford has released the official music video for his new single 'Honestly', featuring Carmouflage Rose, out today via Sony Music Entertainment Australia.
The video, which was shot on location in Sydney and Goulburn, was directed by Gabriel Gasparinatos, produced by Entropico (Timothy Burnett and Erin Moy) and features Shivawn Joubert.
Jai says "This video was the most fun to shoot by far, and I feel like it portrays the messaging behind the song in a visual way. I wanted to create scenes that felt really close and warm, and scenes that also felt distant and lonely. I hope people enjoy it."
"'Honestly' officially premiered this morning via the new YouTube Premieres feature, which included a live global countdown, and saw Jai interacting and chatting with fans through the live chat feature. Fans were able to get a sneak peak of the video late last week, when MTV's TRL exclusively premiered a snippet of the 'Honestly' video.
Jai is set to have a massive 2019, with his official YouTube channel officially surpassing an incredible 900,000 subscribers. Additionally Jai has a string of shows to be announced in the coming months, and will also be heading to the US in April on an extensive promotional trip; re-connecting with his enormous US fan base.
'Honestly', a contemporary hybrid of RnB and pop sensibilities, was written by Jai and Carmouflage Rose. The track was produced by James Angus, who also produced Jai's 2018 single 'Friends', as well as Carmouflage Rose's EP Taste.
Camouflage Rose who features on Honestly, is no stranger to success. His debut single 'Late Nights' was certified gold in Australian in under a year and has amassed over 10 million streams. Supported by triple j and tastemakers alike his debut EP TASTE was released last October which featured tracks such as 'Wildflowers' and 'Let Me Down' feat George Maple. 2018 proved to be an unstoppable year for Carmouflage Rose who sold out national headline shows, graced multiple festival line up including Spilt Milk and was invited by triple j to perform a LAV with fellow artist George Maple.
Speaking on the collaboration, Jai said "Carmouflage Rose's mind is so creative and naturally talented, his ideas and melodies are so far from what I'm used to that it pushes me to think on the spot and I think that's how this song came together".
"Honestly" follows on from a very successful 2018 for Jai Waetford, which saw him release "Lost In You", "Get Over" and official single "Friends" which has accumulated 2.5 Million streams to date. The moody and melodic tracks showcased the now-20 year old's musical evolution, with the lyrics revealing Jai's vulnerabilities and emotional maturity.
Jai's ever-growing online empire now encompasses over 564 million worldwide streams and over half a million followers on Instagram. He has supported the likes of Little Mix and Selena Gomez, as well as embarking on a sold out headline East Coast Australian tour in 2017.
