Jessica Mauboy has just made Eurovision history by performing during the second semi final in Cophenhagen tonight. It is the first time a solo artist from a non European Union country has been invited to attend the event as a guest and perform on the Eurovision stage.
Performing the anthemic and uplifting Sea Of Flags that Jessica co wrote with Ilan Kidron (The Potbelleez) and Stu Crichton specifically for the event, Jessica took to the huge diamond shaped stage during the second semi final against a backdrop of images of the Australian landscape illuminated across 100 meteres of giant screens. The segment was produced by Australian creative director Paul Clarke from Blink TV.
Wearing a gilmmering gold custom made dress by Australian fashion designer Toni Maticevski, Jessica lit up the stage and captivated the 12,000 strong audience in the room with up to 180 million people estimated to have tuned in around the world.
Sea Of Flags which is available for purchase via itunes, reflects Indigenous culture as well as speaks of unity for all the nations represented in the competition.
Prior to her rehearsal earlier in the day, Jessica met with Her Royal Highness The Crown Princess Mary and her two children, Prince Christian and Princess Isabella, who came to the venue to wish the Aussie star good luck ahead of her performance.
