The follow up single "Life has its way" from Sydney-based artist Jessica Tori is here. Following from her 2020 debut single "Skin and Bones," which featured on Triple J's 2021 program, "Life has its way" takes Tori's delicate, soulful vocals into a new and broader electronic pallet. This is a confident, yet vulnerable second single, sprinkled with optimism for life's possibilities and an awe for the mysterious pull of life.
"I wrote this at a time when I needed to believe that what was going on in my life, was taking me to the place that I needed to be," said Jessica Tori. "It's about trust. When it comes to nature and the cycles of the seasons, we have this deep understanding of the ebb and flow of things and this song was about trying to translate this trust into how you view change in your own life."
Tori has spent her career touring and collaborated with high-end electronic artists including Rufus Du Sol, Timmy Trumpet, Mark with A K, Toucan, Makaw, Chores and Xillions. Recently, she has also become known for her rendition of "I am women", as featured on the Channel 9's Amazing Grace series. While the drops, commercials and EDM bangers got bigger, her yearning to create an intimate project grew.
This calling was answered during months in solo self-isolation during COVID. Founded on a passion for quiet and honest songwriting and a partnership with long-time friend Ben Panucci, together they worked to create her debut EP, set for full release in June 2021.
