The Eurovision Song Contest is the world's largest broadcasted entertainment show. The three shows, Semi-Final 1, Semi-Final 2 and the Grand Final, reach more than 200 million people all over the world and are broadcast by nearly 50 countries. The Eurovision Song Contest was initiated by the European Broadcasting Union in the 1950s, after Europe had gone through difficult times. Today, it is an event that proves that music and entertainment have the same potential and strength as sports to create passion and engagement across borders, both in an individual but also on a cross-cultural and social level. The theme for 2016 in Stockholm – Come Together – supports that. This year 42 countries compete and over 1,500 accredited media are reporting from the event.
