KSSR Going Under Interview

Following on from Passenger, KSSR's (Kiss Reid), second track, Going Under, is ready to follow up its successful predecessor. Produced in conjunction with Styalz Fuego, and JP Fung in December last year, the song also sees him team up with vocalist Amrita Hepi.

Already proving himself as an amazing live performer, KSSR is beginning to carve himself a unique niche in the music scene. With key champions for both his debut single Passenger, and his electrifying live shows, KSSR is reminding us all why he has the reputation of being one of the countries most exciting front men.

With One Trick Pony predicting -KSSR's debut album is going to be filled with some absolute firecrackers', Going Under is a good indicator of what the future holds for Kiss Reid.

Describing his music as bipolar pop, KSSR explains -I saw a void that could be filled by taking these contrasting elements – roughhewn beats and really beautiful melodies – and rubbing them up against one another.' Going Under is proof that he is filling this void.

Combining roughly chopped beats, beautiful melodies and striking lyrics, Going Under is intriguing and intoxicating. Above all, KSSR's music is honest and innovative.

If Passenger was the song that established the fact that KSSR doesn't fall into any pre-existing genre, Going Under is the track to dance your ass off.

Interview with KSSR

Question: How would you describe Going Under?

KSSR: It is the sound of realisation, anthemia, energetic and powerful.

Question: How would you define your music style?

KSSR: I call it bi-polar pop.

Question: What should we expect from the upcoming album?

KSSR: Wisdom wrapped in dancing songs to shake that negativity in positive vibes.

Question: Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration?

KSSR: The music is co-written with producer Styalz Fuego. The majority of the album was inspired by me feeling in quite a low point; talking through that and moving on, like therapy.

Question: What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?

KSSR: I'm all over the shop, say at the moment I'm listening to TNGHT, Boards of Canada, Jeremih, Caribou and having a little reunion with PJ Harvey.

Question: What's next? Tour/Album/Single?

KSSR: There is an album waiting for its time to shine, but first I dare say there will be another single and as many shows as I'm offered.

Question: Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?

KSSR: Honestly I think about throwing in the towel once a week, I'm very up and down, but I can't, because basically it's all I care and live for, it's my oxygen.

Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

KSSR: They're both entirely different things. I love performing there is nothing like it, the energy the feeling but then I love recording and experimenting and getting stuff out of your head and watching it grow is so satisfying.

Question: What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

KSSR: Ever since I can remember I was walking round the house singing to myself, creating bands with my GI Joes and singing myself to sleep. It's all I've ever wanted to do and still is.

Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

KSSR: Money, money, money and my own negativity. Finding the balance between reality and dreaming.

Question: What's a typical day like, for you?

KSSR: Hit the snooze button about five times, work, come home troll the internet for stuff I haven't heard, get amazed, get jealous get inspired. Then try to write something of my own, cook dinner, cuddle my girl and watch and episode of something, go to sleep.

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

KSSR: The fact that I can be considered a music artist, that people out there listen to what I'm doing and like it or hate it.

Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

KSSR: Oh man there is so many in so many different realms, I wouldn't know where to start.

Question: Do you have a website fans can visit?

KSSR: At the moment it's just my Facebook page: www.Facebook.com/KSSR

KSSR: Not much of a story, it is just an abbreviation because abbreviation are sahh cool of my name kiss reid.
