Kyle Brylin

Kyle Brylin is the electropop heartthrob whose two self-produced, self-released EPs have made him the toast of the music blogosphere.

The 21-year-old Wisconsin native makes "straight up pop with a banging dance beat." What's his inspiration? On his MySpace page, the smartass jokes, "In 1999, I was attacked by Britney Spears and haven't recovered." For the sake of his career, let's hope he never does.

Interview with Kyle Brylin

Question: How did it feel to hear your song played all over the airwaves?

Kyle Brylin: I was really anxious to get another song on there.


Question: Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?

Kyle Brylin: I knew rejection would be a huge part of it.


Question: What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?

Kyle Brylin: My top played artists this week are Britney, Eminem, Kid Cudi and Jeffree Star. Hahaha.


Question: What's next? Tour/Album/Single?

Kyle Brylin: I'm really hoping to have an album release in the next year.


Question: Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?

Kyle Brylin: There have been times, but I always go back to music.


Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Kyle Brylin: Let me work on the live part, and I'll get back to you.


Question: What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Kyle Brylin: I've always had a passion for the industry. I started getting into pop music in elementary school. Lots of Max Martin.


Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Kyle Brylin: There is so much pressure to define yourself, and that can be tough as a young adult.


Question: What's a typical day like?

Kyle Brylin: I'm so normal. If I'm not at work, I'm working on music. I like to run and swim a lot, too. I lose my keys and my phone at least once a day, and there's a good chance I'll be late for everything.


Question: What has been your favorite part of becoming a music artist?

Kyle Brylin: I grew up watching so many other artists' careers develop, it's very surreal to be beginning my own journey.


Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Kyle Brylin: I think working with David Guetta would be pretty badass.


Question: Are you single? What do you look for in a partner?

Kyle Brylin: Yes I am single. I need someone with a good head on their shoulders and a killer sense of humor.

Kyle Brylin: 1. Drink lots of water and green tea.
2. Capitalise on what makes you happy. You won't work harder for anything else.
3. Smile: you'll trick yourself into a better mood.
4. Never regret anything.
5. Take pictures. Lots of pictures.
