Lano & Woodley – Fly

Lano & Woodley – Fly

After a triumphant year with the success of their highly anticipated show Fly, Lano & Woodley are taking the show on the road again in 2019, bringing their award-winning production to the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne, Adelaide and regional cities around Australia.

Fly was a triumph in 2018. After scoring stellar reviews, bringing home the People's Choice Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and selling over 70,000 tickets nationally, Australia's favourite double act delivered what is being widely recognised as their finest show to date.

After 12 years apart, Colin Lane and Frank Woodley brought Col's opus to life, telling the epic story of the pioneers of flight, the Wright brothers. There were all of the ingredients that have made Lano & Woodley an Australian favourite for more the 20 years, but there was something more… a magical chemistry and polish that had audiences whooping with uncontrollable laughter and taking to their feet at the conclusion of every performance.

Something special happens when Lano & Woodley come together in a theatre and we are so lucky that they will spread the joy that is this show to the regions of Australia in 2019. Initial seasons in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide could not meet demand in 2018 so those cities will see a return of these loveable mates.

In 1994, Lano & Woodley premiered their first show at Melbourne's tiny Carlton Courthouse. That show went on to win the prestigious Perrier Award for best comedy in Edinburgh, making Lano & Woodley only the second Australian artists to take out the award. They returned home to full houses and a TV show co-produced with the ABC and BBC. Then in 2006, more than 150,000 people came to the Good Bye tour to say farewell.

Colin Lane: "Well, after so many amazing shows in 2018, we've well and truly refined the show, and we've cut out ALL the annoying and shit bits - but Frank's still in it."

Frank Woodley: "Performing as Lano & Woodley again was just like riding a bike. Actually, it was probably more like riding a crazy pig through a crowded market, but my point is I felt completely at home."
