Lisa Messenger is the inspiration behind the Learn to Surf series and first learnt to surf aged 30-something. "I had to kick myself and question why it had never crossed my mind before. I just loved it,' she says.

Lisa's love and enthusiasm for the sport fuelled her desire to open the door for others to explore the surfing world. With support of the local communities, Lisa and her team created the first three in a series of Learn to Surf Locality Guides- Bondi, Manly and Byron Bay.

Lisa Messenger:is a Bondi resident and surger. She is Managing Director of three marketing and publishing companies and was a finalist in the 2005 and 2006 Telstra Business Woman of the Year Awards. She recently won the Thought Leader Entrepreneur of the Year 2008 Award and is a finalist in the 2008 My Business Awards. None of this prepared her though for the tough learning curve of surfing. During her first five weeks she endured bluebottle stings, black eyes, multiple bruises but this didn't stop her from trying to master the sport. She now wants to share this knowledge with others because there is something special about being out on the water and catching your first wave.
