Interview with London Topaz
Question: Can you tell us about your recent performance at For the Love?
London Topaz: For The Love was great fun, it was the second time performing my new live show and everyone made me feel so welcome.
Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?
London Topaz: I added an unreleased single called 'Be Mine' into the show last minute, it has these really thick bass stabs that I really love playing out on my SPD drum pad!
Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?
London Topaz: I'd love to have Tom Bilyeu at a show, it's a weird one, but for years I have watched his 'Impact Theory' videos across YouTube and they have helped build my mental, emotional and spiritual stamina, to have him there as a 'thank you, you helped shape this' would be really amazing!
Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?
London Topaz: It's 50/50. I go through heavy introspect periods where I enjoy being alone writing and developing new concepts, then once that process is complete I like to develop ideas and implement them into shows, where I become more extrovert and get to express and share myself through performance.
Question: What motivates you most when creating music?
London Topaz: Life motivates me, I'm fortunate enough to share my passion with the world so I feel an obligation to extract the best parts of me and implement them into the London Topaz brand.
Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?
London Topaz: I'm totally hooked on &ME's remix of 'What To Do', it feels so timeless, I feel like I'm in some sort of space warp as the groove rolls through. I'm also listening to Kidnap's release 'Grow' if you haven't listened grab yourself a box of tissues as it's been injected with ridiculous amounts of emotion!
Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
London Topaz: Deadmau5, his music was gospel to me; I knew that if I was ever to be in a position to share something creative a lot of his brand would be the driving force behind my inspiration.
Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
London Topaz: I would love to sit in on a session with RÜFÜS DU SOL, I really love their intricate attention to detail across all releases, and it's something I admire a lot.
Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?
London Topaz: There will always be obstacles put in your way some that may take years to overcome; this doesn't make you weak or unimportant. We all have to fail sometimes to help us see why growth is so important. We have to learn how to get through a bad day in order to understand how beautiful a good one can be. Every life has a purpose, admire that your life is uniquely yours.
Question: What's a typical day like?
London Topaz: Most days I wake up and go to the gym or engage in some sort of physical activity to switch on my mind, dependent on what needs most attention I'm either writing new music, planning, strategising and thinking of new concepts I want to bring into the London Topaz brand.
Question: What's next for you?
London Topaz: 2020 is packed with new music and more shows which I'm incredibly excited about!
Question: Can you share your socials?
