Yuranga/Mildura-formed, Naarm/Melbourne-based indie-rock band Loose Bricks have just revealed their shimmering new single 'Right Now' – produced and mixed by Oscar Dawson (Ali Barter, Holy Holy, Alex Lahey), and mastered by Leon Zervos at Studios 301.
A fuzz-laden intro ignites the track before the melting vocals of frontman Levi Smith provide fluorescent melodies that polish the song's luscious textures. Layered with groove and charisma, the song sways into an uplifting chorus, pervaded with memorable lyrics and syncopated rhythmic qualities. After suave repetition, it transitions towards an ethereal bridge riddled with reverberated stridency before returning to its familiar hook, closely followed by a hazy conclusion.
"After years of adversity experienced, from traumatic loss to remote living, 'Right Now' captures how far we have come along in our tough journey," the band explains. "The song pinpoints how special it is to live in the moment and not just wait for the destination but indulge in the journey itself, to be in the 'Right Now'."
Alongside the single is the satisfying accompanying video – filmed, directed and edited by Declan Harding, and co-directed by drummer Aaron Lucchesi. Shot at Stay Gold in Naarm/Melbourne and endorsed by Better Beer, the music video presents the band performing the song with storyline cuts of the candid subtleties that occur out of the spotlight before and during live shows. "The storyline is a dream-like state of a night out with friends where things just don't seem to work out or make sense," the band continues. "There are slight elements of 'living in the moment' to accompany the weird experiences that the band goes through on the night out."
To celebrate the release, Loose Bricks will be going on a national headline tour presented by Destroy All Lines, appearing in Meanjin/Brisbane, Eora/Sydney, Tandanya/Adelaide and Naarm/Melbourne. In the live arena, the band have shared the stage with beloved Australian acts Hoodoo Gurus, Bootleg Rascal, Kingswood, COTERIE, DICE, The Grogans, Teenage Dads, Rum Jungle, Caravãna Sun and Big Twisty. They have sold out their own headline shows at The Workers Club in Naarm/Melbourne (250 tickets), Enigma Bar in Tandanya/Adelaide (300 tickets) and The Setts in Yuranga/Mildura (380 tickets).
Comprised of four best mates from Victoria, Loose Bricks have made a name for themselves with their energetic live performances and reputable songwriting, capturing their journey from adolescence into adulthood. Boasting powerful guitar-driven anthems with intimate melodies and pensive lyrics, Loose Bricks pride themselves in artistic progression and diversity.
